With just days to go to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival the excitement is rising for one of the most highly anticipated festivals of the summer. The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival takes place this weekend from the 28-30th of June at the Curragh Racecourse and is one of the most prestigious racing festivals in Europe. The feature race itself will run on Sunday 30th of June at The Curragh and there is lots for people to enjoy both on and off the track.
Into Kildare, the official tourism body for County Kildare is proud to support the Kildare Derby Festival and has provided both marketing and promotional support for the Kildare Derby Festival. Áine Mangan CEO of Into Kildare said, “The Kildare Derby Festival has been going strong since 1978. It was established in a bid to further connect the local community with the Curragh Racecourse and the derby in a tangible way and to help and support businesses, tourism and hospitality providers in Kildare Town. The festival team has worked really hard to put together a great programme of entertainment and events which will run right through to this Sunday. The aim of the Kildare Derby Festival is for locals and visitors to the town to embrace more than just the race. All of the activations will serve to encourage visitors to eat, play and stay in Kildare Town.”
Aine went on to say, “The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival brings over €25 million worth of business to the local economy. Every hotel, restaurant and pub will be busy this weekend and Kildare town itself will have a host of great things for people to see and do away from the track itself. Into Kildare, together with the hard-working Kildare Derby Festival committee are really looking forward to meeting visitors and guests and welcoming them to Kildare Town.”
Throughout the festival week, Kildare Town Square will be transformed into a hub of excitement with a series of live open-air music performances. With a lineup that includes live open-air concerts, a captivating concert in the magnificent St Brigid’s Cathedral the Kildare Derby Racing Legends Museum, and much more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
These events are completely free of charge, making them accessible to all. So gather your friends and family, bring a blanket or a foldable chair, and immerse yourself in the sounds of talented musicians. From traditional Irish melodies to contemporary tunes, the music will undoubtedly create an enchanting atmosphere for all generations to enjoy.
